Dreams of a Wrap Dress
Recently I bought this lovely rayon challis from Gorgeous Fabrics. I thought it would be perfect for a Autumny wrap dress or drapey dress. The kind you can wear to work or our to Friday night drinks or out to a nice (red wine & laughter filled) dinner with friends. Anyway I think you get the kind I’ve look I’m thinking of.
So, on Wednesday morning my fabric arrived in the mail. Then it spent another couple of days sitting on my sewing table taunting me while I was confined to the couch. What else can I do but sit on Pinterest & search for inspiration. Here’s a few of my favourites.

Whilst I love the last option of the shirt dress, dresses like this really don’t suit my body type. The 2nd option though is perfect. I’m thinking of using McCalls 5974 as a basis. This pattern is for stretch fabrics (which my fabric is not) & so I will need to make some alterations to account for the lack of stretch in my fabric, but I think this design will be nice.
What do you think? Can you recommend any good patterns for wrap dresses with non-stretch fabrics?

I have faced this dilemma. Working out the ease issues with a woven and a knit wrap dress almost had me bald. I would suggest a faux wrap dress. One that looks knit like, but still adheres to woven principles. I cannot suggest one, as I had already ruined my fabric and abandoned the project, but I know there are a few patterns out there. Good luck!

The first one might be your best bet but I think you should check Pattern Review to get feedback before attempting one of them. (Yes, I am a bit obsessed myself hihihi)
Hi,
Take a look at Silhouette Patterns, she has Diane’s dress pattern that sells for 475.00 on her web site. This patterns is for knits or woven fabrics.
