A Big Leap…

So Greg and I did a crazy thing on the weekend.

We bought a house, or rather a two bedroom unit.

We've been looking for a place since we got back from our honeymoon in March. We'd look seriously for a couple of weeks & then lose interest & then start looking again. Anyway last Monday night I re-gained my interest in house hunting & looked around online. I found a place that had been passed in at auction the previous weekend, we contacted the real estate agent, looked at it on Tuesday night, thought about it for a couple of days & then put in an offer on Saturday morning. Within an hour of making the offer, we were at the real estate agent's office, handing over deposits & signing contracts. This morning we got the contracts back from the owner & so now I guess it's official!

We have a fairly short settlement & so, if all goes well, by the end of August we'll be in our very own home sweet home. That means that in a period of less than 12 months we will have gotten engaged, planned a wedding, gotten married & bought a house. Wow… we are seriously insane.

I guess I really know how to jam-pack my days. Not only is this month absolutely insane at work, I have to organise home loans, solicitors etc for the house, finish my BurdaStyle book garment & at some point I was hoping to squeeze in a ski trip too! EEK When will I sleep?!

Regardless of the impending stress, I'm really excited about this house. It's walking distance to a train station, nice cafes & restaurants, THE BEACH & it's been beautifully renovated. I can't wait to move in and start making it our own. Who knows maybe this blog will be filled with curtains & cushions in a couple of months.* And for the first time in years I am looking forward to a beach filled summer (with air conditioned nights – this will be the first time I have ever lived in a house with air conditioning).

* On second thought, please don't make me make curtains. I want to make pretty dresses & cute blouses and things. Really, curtains are very depressing. Dresses are so much nicer & it's spring racing carnival soon & I'll totally need a new dress for that.
